BeSteady, a 3-axis gimbal camera stabilizer, is well on its way to hitting the market. This is great news for anyone who saw the MoVI stabilizer but cringed at the price. The BeSteady One, the first of their stabilizers, is expected to come to market between $2.5K-$3K; making it roughly $12K or so cheaper than the MoVI.

The test footage that I have seen from this device (embedded below) looks pretty good. Its smooth and the movement is steady – even when you can tell that the operator was running it looks great. The footage seemed a little crooked, but that may just be me.

According to the developers of the BeSteady it is completely silent and works flawlessly with DSLRs. They are about to launch a Kickstarter to fund the initial manufacturing run, and after that the BeSteady will be available to the public. I can’t imagine this not getting funded through Kickstarter, the savings over the MoVI alone are enough to make this very attractive to many low budget/indie outfits. You can find out more about the BeSteady ontheir website.
